£39.00/kg
the median price of a UK speciality coffee
As at 6 November 2026
What is counted
The middle price per kilo across all 6,807 priced coffees, taken at the cheapest bag each roaster sells — which is what a kilo of that coffee actually costs. Usually that is the 1 kg bag: only 20% of these figures come off a 200 g to 350 g bag.
What it does not mean
Delivery is not included. Half of all priced coffees cost more than this and half cost less — the mean is £42.98/kg, pulled up by a long tail above £100/kg. It is a median of the coffees we could read a price from, which is not an even sample: 5,986 catalogue coffees are missing from it, 252 of them because we failed to read a price their shop does publish. Compare a coffee against its peers and you are reading a different figure: that is computed on the standard bag, where the median is £48.00/kg.

Computed from the coffees listed on roasters’ own public shop pages, collected 6 November 2026. We have not verified any roaster’s claims. How we collect and count
If you quote this figure, please date it. It changes every time we collect.
